Parkhotel Holzner

in autumn

The forests turn golden and colourful, the light shines softly on mountains and hills and the view is never as clear as in the autumn months on Ritten mountain. The time for leisurely strolls begins: through Ritten mountain's forrests and fields, through the autumn-coloured park and through the tranquil Liberty Spa.

Only during the autumn school breaks in Germany and Switzerland the hotel is mainly inhabited by families with children. Other than that, our guests can look forward to hiking and cycling tours through the beautiful forests in autumn, followed by pleasurable hours in the Liberty Spa, recharging their batteries in the panorama sauna and hammam and finding inner peace and balance during yoga and Pilates sessions. Experience a time of deep relaxation and enjoy the beauty of nature.

The Holzner within reach

with direct flights to Bolzano

In addition, we compensate the CO2 footprint of your flight with myclimate as part of our Sustainable Travel offer.Find your flight here

September

at the Holzner

The busy holiday season is coming to an end and peace and quiet is returning to the Holzner. After a hike in the marvellous nature of Ritten or a tennis match on our tennis courts, our guests seek rest and relaxation in the Liberty Spa, in the Panormasauna or during a Hamam ritual. Excursions to nearby Bolzano are also becoming more popular again, for a stroll or a visit to a museum, once the heat in the valley subsides.
However, the absolute highlight of a September holiday at the Holzner is and remains extended or shorter hikes on over 300 kilometres of hiking trails on Ritten mountain, which run from the vineyards in the valley to the lofty heights of the Rittner Horn at 2,200 metres above sea level.

October

at the Holzner

In the first and last week of October, restorative tranquillity and deep relaxation await our guests at the Holzner. The cool evenings invite you to indulge in the Liberty Spa and recharge your batteries with a steam treatment in the panorama sauna. During the day, you can take a leisurely stroll through the colourful autumn forests or spend long, relaxing hours in the park and enjoy tea and cake on the magnificent panoramic terrace. In the two weeks in between, we once again welcome many families with children to our hotel, as the autumn break takes place in some places and young and old alike are eager to soak up the last warm rays of sun before winter.

November

at the Holzner

The first week of November at the Holzner is all about family holidays with the extended family. Grandparents, parents, young and old children come together once again at the. Children embark on adventures during the children's programme, while parents and grandparents find peace and quiet in the Liberty Spa, cosy up with a good book in the reading room or go for an invigorating autumn walk.
The last weeks of November are then all about relaxing in the Liberty Spa, quiet winter walks on the beautiful Ritten promenades and the odd cup of tea in our cosy hotel bar. And here's another little insider tip: The best holiday deals at the Holzner are available in November and during Advent.

Fall break

Family time at the Holzner

In general, autumn is a relaxed and peaceful time at the Holzner, with the exception of the fall breaks in Germany and Switzerland (in the second and third week of October and the first week of November). During these weeks, we welcome many families with children in our house.

Rich harvest and

variety from the kitchen

Autumn is peak harvest time and therefore presents us with an exuberant variety of colourful autumn vegetables and fresh produce from local farms. So richly gifted, we get creative in our kitchen and at the same time many South Tyrolean specialities are particularly tempting in autumn. Chestnuts and pumpkins, mushrooms and apples and countless other fresh ingredients end up in our cooking pots in autumn.Discover more culinary highlights

Our top tips

in autumn

What

a view!

The sky a steely blue over golden forests, the view of the mountains on the horizon crystal clear. This is the scenery that awaits you here in autumn and surprises and amazes even ourselves every year with its beauty. No wonder that our guests prefer to spend time outdoors in autumn, even in cooler temperatures, on the panoramic terrace, in the park and, of course, hiking.More about our location

Hiking

for foodies

In South Tyrol, unforgettable hikes await you at any time of year, but there is never a better time to enjoy hiking than in autumn. As has been the tradition for centuries, countless farms open their doors and serve hearty South Tyrolean specialities and fine delicacies made from whatever nature has given them this year. The popular Törggelen is almost like a harvest festival celebrated over weeks and months. And we give thanks, too, especially for chestnuts, new wine and sweet Krapfen.

Off to

the sauna!

With its longer and cooler evenings, autumn is perfect for a good sauna and at the Holzner you are almost spoilt for choice: would you prefer an extended cleansing ritual for deep relaxation in the hammam? Or a steam treatment in the panorama sauna? Or perhaps enjoy a more intimate sauna experience in the Finnish sauna in the log cabin? There are also two family saunas! Don't let yourself be bothered, find peace and quiet, at the Holzner you have all the time in the world.

Enjoy

our wine

South Tyrol is not only an autonomous region in political terms, but also as a wine-growing area. With its varied soil conditions and climatic differences up and down the country, the result is an extraordinary range of wines that are harvested and pressed in autumn. This makes autumn the perfect time to indulge in cultivated drinking culture. At the Holzner, you can enjoy South Tyrol's best wines - over 250 labels can be found on our wine list - in an incomparable ambience, in the bar, on the terrace or in our fine wine cellar during tastings with the house sommelier.Read more

Match me if

you can!

Tennis has a long tradition at the Holzner. We have had two tennis courts on the east side of the house since 1935, which have been renovated time and again, most recently in 2018, and have been playable all year round ever since. The most tennis is played in spring and autumn. Our tennis courts are particularly well booked then, as the pleasant temperatures are ideal for a match or two or a lesson with our tennis coach.Tennis at the Holzner
